One of my ancestors, Pernilla / Petronella Brun (born about 1734, who lived in Fågeltofta and Tolånga, Malmöhus, Sweden) is giving me a run for my money, that’s for sure! Her parents and birth record are very elusive. Many years ago, I thought I had found her birth record and parents. I thought she married a first husband Måns Nilsson and had three children, and then married Per Håkansson Fogelberg and had three more children.
But I was wrong about that. Måns did not die before she married Per. And they each have their own death record. Pernilla died in 1805; Petronella in 1807. Additionally, the probate of Pernilla Nilsdotter Brun identifies three children only; she is not the mother of six.
There are two Pernilla Bruns!
Pernilla Nilsdotter Brun, b. 2 Oct 1726 in Lövestad, Malmöhus to Nils Håkansson Brun and Bolla Olufsdotter married Måns Nilsson and had three daughters: Hanna, Bolla, and Elna, all born in Lövestad. This is not my line. To see her in FamilySearch.org, click HERE.
Pernilla / Petronella Brun, born about 1734, married Per Håkansson Fogelberg and had three children: Jacob, born in Fågeltofta, and Jöran, and Lisa born in Tolånga. This is my line. Please click HERE to see her in FamilySearch.org.
In FamilySearch, in the sources tab of each woman, I have added a chart with links to sources, that proves that there are two Pernilla Brun’s.

A Note On Names
“Pernilla” and “Petronella” are variations of the same name, like “Lizzy” and “Elizabeth.” They are interchangeable and equivalent. Pernilla who married Måns was always called “Pernilla” in the records. The woman who married Per was recorded as “Pernilla” in her marriage record and in the birth record of her first child, and was recorded as “Petronella” in all following records. Perhaps she was distinguishing herself from other Pernilla Brun.

Coming soon: my research log on Petronella Brun. I would like to share all I have found, in the hopes that, if anyone else is searching for her birth record and parents, the collaboration will help us along.
